FAQ: Organic or Goat Milk Questions

FreshCheesPicI can’t find organic buttermilk and like to make Quark using organic milk. How do I do that?

    This requires a little bit more work, but it is not hard at all. First you must pasteurize your milk by bringing it to a rolling boil, hold it there for one minute and let cool down to room temperature. This process will kill all organisms - good and bad. Next you have to inoculate the milk with buttermilk cultures. For that you add the cultures to the milk and incubate at room temperature for about 16 to 18 hours. Now you have created Buttermilk. Use the buttermilk in your Quark Maker to make Quark.

    Buttermilk cultures can be purchased from:
